Common Questions

1. What happens at a small group meeting?
You’ve probably seen small groups meeting and not even realized it. We have 2 types of small groups which are H2H groups and Specialized groups. An H2H small group looks like friends coming over to visit studying a book or topic of interest. At its core, a small group is a small gathering of people growing in relationship with God and each other. By participating in small groups, you can expect to connect with others through a life-giving topic, have refreshments and engage in conversation and request prayer if needed. Most H2H groups last for 1 - 1 1/2 hours. A specialized group is much the same except the group may meet on a weekly basis, bi-monthy, or once a month. Specialized groups may be centered around a certain hobby, interest or ministry.

2. How often does a small group meet?
Most of our small groups meet weekly except for the 1st Wednesday of every month when we gather together at The Mission Church for a celebration service filled with worship and a 15-20 minute talk. The groups take a break during 3 busy months of the year which are May, August and December. However, some groups decide they just don’t want to stop meeting, so they continue throughout these busy months. Small groups are meant to bring meaning and community into the flow of your life so even if you can’t attend every single meeting, there is still great value in joining a group.

3. Where do small groups meet?
Small groups meet primarily in homes, but sometimes in public places like coffee shops if a home is not a possibility. Small groups happen throughout our community and if you are not sure about what small group to attend, we can help you find one! CLICK HERE.

4. Do all the groups have childcare?
Some H2H groups have childcare set up and some do not.

5. What if I don’t like the first group I try?
The truth is, not everyone will find the best fit with the first group they try. This is why we encourage you to visit a different group if the first one is not a good fit for you. The simple strategy to finding success in small groups is to not give up. We believe there is a group that is right for everyone - including you! We are adding groups throughout the year, so check back with us at different intervals.

6. If you don't find a group that suits you, consider leading a small group.

Leading a Small Group

Leading a small group is not about being perfect; its about serving others by giving them a place to connect and grow in their relationship with God and with others. Hosting a group is really simple:

  1. Select a time and location you would like to meet.
  2. Invite others to join you.
  3. Choose your topic and share it with your group. Don't worry if you don't have a topic, we provide 15-25 minute dvd lessons with questions or an outline to discuss the most recent Sunday Morning Message.

NUTS AND BOLTS? You will learn everything you need to know in a 1 hour training session (orientation) to help you with the the details and how to have a blast leading your group.
